Hey all, this post explains how the new forum works together with the Prototypr Toolbox (our directory of tools) to help grow projects, get feedback, and also get featured in roundups and newsletters.
Every tool listing now has a companion topic automatically created here on the forum.
It’s a place to share product updates that can also go out in the community section of our newsletter! You may also be invited to a special interview piece, like this:
This is part of the forum’s core purpose:
helping tell the story behind the project, and showing the people, process, and passion behind them
The site and forum is built to work around this idea, and I’d love any feedback to shape it further. Here’s how it works:
Companion Posts
When a tool is published on Prototypr (create a listing here), a companion topic is created here the forum. Then…
- When you visit a tool’s listing (e.g. Design Buddy), scroll to the bottom-you’ll see the comment thread from the forum, right on the listing page:
- Any reactions (emojis) you add on the site sync directly with this forum topic!
- When the post receives it’s first comment, it’s automatically listed on the forum:
Why does it matter?
- When you share updates or add comments, they’re shown both on your tool page, and forum - this can boost them on both sites
- Any cool updates and highlights can be featured in our newsletter (Prototypr Weekly) and even on Medium where there’s 200k followers
- This gives your tool more exposure and helps the whole community discover and support new projects.
If you have any thoughts or encounter any issues using it, let me know, thanks!
